“I’ve had about enough of these leather-skinned bigots usurping the good name of my country to foment hate. Apparently current governor Jan Brewer is in agreement with former governor Mecham’s (possibly apocryphal, I can’t find it now) take on declaring Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday a state holiday – “Shoot six more and we can take a week off.” This is the video that eventually led to working with a local group of young people and Eric Byler (co-founder of the Coffee Party) to successfully pass a local ordinance in Kalamazoo saying that if Michigan were to ever pass a “show your papers” law, it won’t be enforced by the City of Kalamazoo.
